Try looking at Garner 27529, is the part that's in Wake County. Not too far from anything in Raleigh, but you can get larger lots and get more house for that price range.
Where do you work? That determines a lot!
Oh, and do you want to buy new or in an established neighborhood?

Reason: another question for original poster
You MIGHT try 27592... Willow Spring.. its a bit further out towards more country life but its not that far from Raleigh. I know they have homes for reasonable prices.
Fuquay and Clayton are both very safe, I think. I live in FV and it's very quiet, quaint, and small townish. There has not been a murder there since 1969. I'm pretty sure Clayton is just as safe. Not much happens in either place for the most part that I know of. I live in a very safe, quiet residential s/d and I paid 150K for a 4br 2.5 bath new construction home 2 years ago. Prices are getting higher now but I think you could definitely find something in your price range there and Clayton as well. Clayton is really nice, too (I think the town of Clayton is lovely) and a little bigger than FV in terms of population. It all just depends on where you want to be located in relation to other areas or work. I don't know much about Garner or Knightdale but both areas are growing and are still pretty affordable.
I would like to work in a office building because I do clerical work and my husband is a cook and has his cdl for driving also I don't mind traveling to work as long as I live in a safe neighborhood.(Question is the schools good in Clayton and is it a far travel if I worked in raleigh and lived in Clayton)
I currently live in Knightdale with my family and we like it alot. We moved from a really small town and it sort of resembles that feeling at times. But it is growing and will onlt continue to get bigger because of 540 opening down to here.
We looked at Clayton, Garner, Wake Forest, everywhere it seems like and they all have their charm. I believe Clayton is in Johnston County and I am not sure about how their school system is holding up as compared to the 'wonderful' Wake County school system (I jest.) Take a look at their site at http://www.johnston.k12.nc.us/educat...hp?sectionid=1. I've never heard anything bad about them though. Now, as far as not caring about driving to work.....watch what you say there. Traffic in places around this area is terrible. I stay away from the RTP area in late afternoon through early evening. Be here a while, you'll be like everyone else and find the short cuts. Good luck to you.
