Want to join a club with my family of 4 and love golf. Know the area, born and raised here, and familiar with most golf courses. If you had to choose between these 2 which would you choose?
Based on my limited knowledge, I think it would be easier to join brier creek, I know at ccc, you have to have a member sponsor you for membership, and I thought the waiting list was extremely long. The CCC just may be more difficult to obtain, they don't necessarily go out and try and find members, people come to them and want to be members. Brier Creek is more open, residents and non residents, but it is a younger course, and they are still trying to get members.
I have not played the courses, so I cannot speak to them! Which one is more convenient for you?
Dont care about ease of joining, mainly the facilities and the golf. Low handicap golfer and want to know what the reputations of each are as well. Will probably play both prior to making a decision. Attracted to the fact that you can play Treyburn in Durham which is nice and a few others that McConnell owns, however live in cary and am a good 25 miles away from RCC. Also, our family is under 40 years old....does anyone know percentage of families our age at each?
I know lots of younger families at RCC, so that shouldn't be a problem. However, if anyone in your family plays tennis, or wants to, that is a problem. No tennis program. I know that some people are members of our club (NCSU Univ. Club) to play tennis and are members of RCC for golf only.
I would think that living in Cary, you would want to make sure you are OK with the distance to either of the clubs. It will be tough to get a lot of family benefit out of either club if it is a long drive. Having said that, I beleive that RCC is a great players course and making strides towards a good family club. I am not a huge fan of Brier Creek, it is a for-profit club which means that the members often suffer in pursuit of profit (in comaprison to member owned clubs).
Who here knows more about old chatham? I am aware of the dues and rules etc.. just curious on any other input that anyone may have. I live less than 3 miles from the course.
