I know this is an old thread, but I always thought birch beer was a Pennsylvania thing. It was pretty easy to find there, but I don't see it much elsewhere. But now that I saw this thread, I'm in the mood for it!

Anvil's Cheesesteaks has 20-oz bottles of Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer. If nothing else, I'm sure Anvil would let you know where he gets his from.

Whole Foods sells it, Izzy Brand. You must be from the north, I was craving when I moved down back in 80s and could never find it but then found it at Whole Foods and was very happy, lol!!
