Hi, my name is Paul and I will be moving to Durham, more specifically by Southpoint, in a couple weeks and I was wondering what everyone thinks of that area? Thanks!

I think the Southpoint area is one of the top three places in Durham to live. I prefer newer development over the older stuff and this area has grown a lot. It is very safe, family friendly and clean. I frequent there at my lunch hour and really enjoy it. The Streets at Southpoint mall is the best mall I have ever seen.

It is nice, and the mall is one of the better I've been to. My only real criticism of the area is that is is a little too new and too perfect. You'll feel like living in a manicured Disneyland rather than in a real neighborhood, but it will be very safe and convenient to almost everywhere in the Triangle.

It's funny that you describe it that way. I always think of it as Disney World, so that is probably why I like it. I love the cleanliness, newness and variety of things so near each other. The development over on 54 & 751 looks like it is really coming along also.
I can appreciate some aspects of the old historic stuff, but I much prefer new and shiny to old and dull.

I definitely like the experience of going to Southpoint for shopping, but for a place to live, I prefer more of a mix. Chapel Hill is a little too restrictive on the shiny and new, but I really appreciate what they've done to preserve the old. I guess Europeans tend to be better with a mix. Here, it's either all or nothing!
