I live in Boston and am considering relocating to Cary, specifically maybe near W. Chatham St. at a complex called Townes at Madison on Madison Sq. Lane near W. Chatam/N. Dixon Ave.
1) Can anyone tell me in general terms if this street is decenty placed away from hearing noise from both Amtrak trains and RDU planes?
Trying to determine if either trains and/or planes are bothersome in that area.
2) I also would like to ask if you live in Cary, what areas would I want to stay away from due to excessive train or plane noise overall? I hate train whistles and shaking and I hate low flying planes. I deal with both now in my suburban Boston neighborhood.

Thanks,
Mary in Boston

Looks like that is right next to a busy train track near the Amtrak. I lived near that line (near Cary Parkway) and could hear the whistle from even further away than you'll be (I did not get shaking). I don't think you'd get any significant plane noise in that part of Cary.

You'll be able to hear the trains, but not so much the planes!

There are many apartment complexes, townhome communities, condos in Cary that are nowhere train tracks or flight paths.

I've driven by the townhomes and they look nice. It's great for a downtown location. I would not be concerned about plane noise there. But if you look at Google Maps you can see the last row of townhouses is close to the tracks.
