It sounds like you are referring to Renaissance at Regency COTTAGES? I don't know much about this neighborhood, although I've spent LOTS of time on the mountain bike trails adjacent to it (north and west).
I wouldn't care for any of the homes on Regency Cottage Place as those homes were, I think, built by a second developer a few years after the original section within Angelica Circle and perhaps at a lower price point. They have a terrible view into that gully with the power lines, and as others have mentioned, more white noise from US1.
I personally like the design and build of the original section of homes, and I like the location due to proximity to recreation of Koka Booth and Symphony Lake greenway, as well as Waverly Place. Also, there are some MAJORLY expensive neighborhoods nearby (Renaissance at Regency MANORS and the homes on Venetian Court) that I would think help keep the value of the homes in the COTTAGES section up.
The Cottages were intriguing before the 2009 crash, when Premiere Homes was pimping them out with higher end stuff, and sky-high prices.
Then ill-fated Forever/Not-For-Very-Long Homes watered down the product until they cratered.
Then Stanley Martin unleashed their cookie cutters to finish out.
As usual, Mike fills in the blanks. I knew that there were at least 2 builders in the cottages section, but did not know the specifics or history. Thanks Mike

Avenue of the Americas?
Some people need those houses, and the perception of pretense is just "it is what it is."
Want an eye-popper?
Slip down Ederlee a bit and tour Barrington... Whew...
Just want to confirm, Mike, Avenue of the Estates is the correct street name. It's the name of the street on the first entrance into Regency Park Estates neighborhood. That's the first neighborhood off of Regency Park/Ederlee Drive that had the McMansions built back in late 80's/early 90's. Not saying it's not pretentious though

Yes. My bad. Avenue of the Estates.
It would be a gated community, if Cary allowed such.
Danbury and Barrington are two subdivisions (of six) that are part of Regency Communities. Quite different but neighbors in Danbury and Barrington enjoy the Regency Communities pools and tennis courts. Several families move from one Regency Communities subdivision to another...Danbury to Wyndfall, Wyndfall to Barrington, etc.
