Some family members who visited the area last week told me that they drove in the Le Hermitage development in Apex as they had been intrigued by the website and it appears to have been "abandoned" by the builder. They said there were maybe two occupied homes and a bunch of partialy completed homes and roads and no sign of a sales office. Does anyone know what is going on with this development? Thanks for your help!

I found a website and I pm'd it to you since we can't post websites to developments on the thread. I thought to myself why would can't they find a website. Then I thought back to high school french class. It is l'hermitage not Le Hermitage. H makes the words more of a contraction. I am assuming you saw no one there b/c it has been rainy recently and they were probably not building.

Thanks JQ , but I think my original post may have been unclear... my family members already have the web address etc and went to check out the subdivision, but based on appearance of the areas and the fact that the homes are no longer listed in MLS, they are speculating that the building plans may have changed, and I told them I would check with the City Data folks cause they always have the info !!

Rumor has it the developer went bankrupt. Even the sales office has been removed. I'm sure someone out there has more detailed information, but they are definitely not on a construction break due to weather. I have no idea what they are going to do with the area.

I heard the developer went bankrupt as well - in any event they definitely pulled up stakes and left town. I guess they will try to sell the project to another developer, but I've no idea how long that would take. I do feel sorry for the two families who live there!

Well, for what it's worth, that subdivision was an odd fit for Apex, especially at that location. The houses were very expensive, and both detached and townhomes were in close proximity (condos were to be added in a 2nd phase). The townhouses tower over a small older ranch on an adjacent lot, and look pretty ridiculous. I remember my realtor said last year that she had toured them, and she didn't think the out-of-town developer really knew what would sell in Apex. Do people really want to pay $400K for a townhouse in Apex? Apparently not, since zero sold.

Anyhow, it will be interesting to see what happens to the property!

I quickly looked at their website and one of their townhome plans looks like it might be ideal for us, assuming we relocate that is. I wonder what the Townhomes will cost at a Sheriff's Sale?.......
