I actually checked out their website but I didn't get a clear answer about what they accept. I have a 10 year old computer that is still able to run Windows 10 and an old computer monitor that works fine. I know I could post this on Craigslist but I do go to Goodwill occasionally as there is one in my neighborhood.

Probably not the monitor if it's a CRT, not a flat panel. I don't think Goodwill accepts any 'tube' TV's or monitors anymore. You may have to keep your eyes open when there's a free recycling day with your waste disposal company to avoid a fee. I don't think Goodwill is alone with this policy. There's a fair amount of nasty material contained in CRT's and there are costs involved in disposing of them in a safe and responsible manner.

You can take to Staples or Best Buy to be recycled for free. Nobody will want the computer or monitor.

There are some landfill locations that have electronic waste collection points. The one in North Raleigh has one.

Why would you deal with Craigslist if you can just recycle it?

There's a United Way collection in Morrisville for NC schools/nonprofits.

They wouldn't take a CRT monitor either though. Can check their list of what they do/don't accept here:

Because it's still perfectly usable for light use think your typical Microsoft Office suite or similar or email. It even runs Windows 10 so software is up to date.

Goodwill will flat out refuse to take anything that doesn't have some resale value. And I'd assume your computer fits that bill. Some locations/employees can be VERY selective and picky about that they will take.

I don't think the average Goodwill employee is that good at looking at a computer and deciding if it's worth keeping. Can't tell how old or useful it is by looking at it.

I just posted it on Craigslist for $5. I'll make it free if no one bites.

My only problem with Craigslist is that I try to meet people before work at a public place. Sometimes people are running late and I end up waiting 20 minutes to get rid of something.
