It was on the west side of Capital...errr....North Blvd just before you get to New Hope Ch. Rd. It's now a Kangaroo.
Pop quiz, hot shot, what restaurant took the place of the drive-in?

Vincent's free standing restaurant eventually, but Vincent's originally opened in the strip.

^Actually I remembered the drive-in being a little further south closer to Greywood dr but upon further investigation using Raleigh's Imaps page I see that the drive-in was right where the shopping center is now. The restaurant I'm talking about was The Roadhouse that ended up burning down.
Check out the Imaps page to see the drive-in. Click on aerial then select the year.

Hey Pog. Since you're the Raleigh historical guru.

Is it true there used to be a racetrack in north Raleigh? I've heard from multiple sources there used to be one where the old UPS office and that large manufacturing plant is at the end of Navajo Dr.?

You could've asked me that! Yes, it use to be here:

Google Maps

In fact, the next time you drive up Bush st. you can see a mound of dirt with trees growing on top. That used to be a berm for a turn.
