We'll be moving to Raleigh in the next couple of months from the midwest. Here the winters are cold and very, very gray. I don't think the sun comes out more than maybe once a week! I'm hoping the weather in NC is better than that!

So, what is the normal temps like in the winter? What would you consider your rainy season? Do you get many hurricanes or tornados?

I understand the summers are hot and humid. I can handle that. It's the lack of sunshine here in the midwest that gets us!

Thank you!

Paula

I too moved from the Midwest (northern IL) a couple of years ago. The weather in the Raleigh metro is a considerable improvement! We really haven't had a real snow for the last two winters. (I was told that it snows about every other year.) As for rainy seasons, the weather channel reports that the average precipitation is about the same month to month throughout the year. However, in any given year we certainly go through rainy stretches. By the time a hurricane gets to Raleigh it is generally Tropical Storm strength. However, anyone who remembers Fran will tell you that they can be quite devastating. The winters are indeed MUCH sunnier than in the Midwest. The spring and fall are amazing - you will love them. Generally the summers are hot and humid, but the Midwest gets more days over 100 than NC. All in all, you will love the climate!

Thank you! Sounds like I'm going to love the area and may even be able to give my Down Jacket to Goodwill! LOL! But, what I'll appreciate the most is the sunshine.
