Just heard that Dollar Tree is going in the vacant storefront that was Eckerds. I actually like them as they truly offer all items at a dollar; good for crafts, school items, birthday cards, etc. And the Walmart Neighborhood Market is really coming along...

I call dibs on the empty restaurant space in the corner! (Anyone want to give me a loan?)

The shopping centers in that area are simply depressing...vacant storefronts all over the place, constant rotation of businesses unable to make it, etc. Harrison Pointe is the best with Harris Teeter to drive traffic, but Northwoods and Reedy Creek plazas really struggle. Walmart may give Northwoods a fighting chance.

Too bad I'm walking distance to Reedy Creek...like being able to walk to Food Lion, but it's nothing to write home about and the rest of the complex really struggles. Here's hoping all the new Lennar development on both sides of Maynard there help prop it up some.

Those two older shopping centers were getting by before Aldi's and Harrison Pointe.

I think that area is just over-saturated with plaza space now. The apartments will help Harrison Pointe, due to walkability, but I don't foresee growth in population to bring tons of trade to bail out the other two.
