We have a meetup that is meeting this month on Monday 3/25 at Durham South Regional Library, which is at US 54 and S. Alston Ave (near US 55).

After the meetup, we go to a nearby restaurant or tavern at 9 pm to talk.

Our party is usually about 25 people.

Is there any (preferably quiet) restaurant or tavern in the area that stays open until 11 pm or later and can accommodate a party of 25+? We might be prepared to go some way if necessary.

Thanks for any feedback!

(Thanks also for the earlier feedback on a similar question about the Cameron Village area. However, we have to move the meetup to South Regional Library this month because of Library space availability, hence the new question).

I would call Sansui. (Japanese and sushi) They usually stay open until the crowd dies down and I'm sure Tommy would stay open with that crowed coming in. Also, El Agave (Mexican) is right there and have plenty of room for a party that size. You might want to call them too. Those are two quality places to eat within a mile of the library.

I've never been there, but Bralie's is close by, and the yelp reviews sound pretty positive.

Bralies is the dive bar of dive bars. Would not do a meet up group event there unless your group is a gang of bikers. Fun place but not the venue for that.

I like the food at Sansui but had one of the worst experiences there about 3 weeks ago. Just horrible horrible servce and I'm not one who typically complains. I will never go back.

Agave is really close and typically has lots of space. Its a low end Mexican restaurant. Not sure if that is what you are looking for.

There is an Indian Restaurant just down 55 in Greenwood Commons that would probably stay open for you. They run about 15-20 per person though.

If you are willing to venture about 1 more mile you get into the Southpoint area. There is a bar there- Sunset- that has a side room that would accomodate your group and I bet they'd be willing to give the entire space to you. If I were in your shoes that is where I would go. Good food/decent atmosphere/decent space.

Wow thanks so much for those great ideas!

Sunset, Indian, Agave, Bralie's, Sansui (with a caveat for one of these).

Another one we met at some time ago that was nice is Ted's Montana Grill, which stayed open for us past their normal 10 pm close.

We will chose one and really appreciate it!
