I know about the Village Draft House, but that's a sports bar. There's also Cameron Bar & Grill, but that's way more restaurant than bar.

Anything else in the Cameron Village or Oberlin Village area?

Cantina 18 has a bar. of course, it is more restaurant than bar.

Player's Retreat is possibly more bar than restaurant.

Most of the bars in that area are primarily restaurants. Another option that hasn't been mentioned is Cafe Caturra in Cameron Village. It is still a restaurant, but they have a nice bar area.

Oh, I still mourn the lost of Cafe Cyclo. It had a bit of an identity crisis, in that it was part vietnamese rest, part bar, part coffee/tea shop. But for a while it had one of the best bartenders in town. I almost cried when his girlfriend dragged him to Pasadena. What? Did our bartender/customer relationship mean nothing?????

Yeah, I would say the best bar bar would be PR, at least close to CV. Of course, you have the entire Glenwood South just blocks away.

Or you could come hang in my hood and join us a the bar at taste. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Taste/144869475610846 It is a restaurant too, but that is the bar we call home at least one night a week.

my apologies, Cafe Caturra is a good option. it's half wine bar, half restaurant. they have beer for sure, and I assume a liquor license.

Boylan Bridge Brew Pub has a great deck, a fabulous view, and no sports. Perhaps its close enough to meet your needs.

I've been to Players Retreat. Too much of a sports bar for me.

This sounds promising.

Is the bar area reasonably large - i.e., it's not just a small waiting area for people waiting for tables?

Do they have outdoor seating?

I assume wine by the glass prices are in the same ballpark as beer and cocktails?

Yep.

Yep. They've got a good mix of comfy "lounge" chairs and regular tables outside.

Yep. And they have daily specials that are pretty good deals.

They also have some pretty good food. It's mostly heavy apps and finger foods (ie: not a lot of 'full meal' type things) but it's nice to have good munchies instead of the regular bar fare.

Good call on Cafe Caturra. I went there last night. Might be my go to place for dates.
