I hope that no one ever figures out what the source of "The Noise" is. Life, to me at least, seems just a little bit more interesting and worth living when every question can't be so easily answered away for us. I know that sounds extremely naive but I like to believe that God dwells in the space where science doesn't rationalize everything and we must somehow find a way to remain humble creatures of faith.

And, of course, some of us... don't.

I'm pretty confident that investigating unidentified sounds is not going to undermine anyone's faith.

That is undoubtedly true but contemplate for a moment how much more exciting it is to ponder the question than to know the answer.

By the way, I think I felt my house here in Wake Forest rumble once through all this but while it was happening I just thought it was thunder rolling in.

The horses aren't too thrilled, either.

I'm going to call the sheriff's office tomorrow. We have a neighbor with two small antique cannons. He shot one a few months ago and we all ran out of our house thinking that someone's house had exploded. He told my kids that the ammo is golf ball size.

Not sure what kind of regulations there are about shooting cannons, but we'll find out tomorrow.
