Storms Cause Mess Across Triangle :: WRAL.com

Eight people were injured when a powerful storm pummeled at outdoor concert at the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh.

When the storm passed through, patrons were hit with tree branches and other debris. Most of the injuries were minor cuts and bruises.

The cancellation of the concert by Def Leppard, Styx and Foreigner also caused major traffic back-ups around the Amphitheatre, as thousands of fans tried to leave at once.

A security guard at the Amphitheatre told WRAL there was some significant damage.

It probably FELT like a tornado to those who were there. Most likely a down wind, which can act just like a tornado.

There was a report of 8 injuries from windblown debris at Walnut Creek.

No tornado reported.

Hey, you Northern residents, Brooklyn NY recently had a tornado. Weird!

I am so bummed...we got the winds but not one drop of rain! The winds dried everything and blew all the dead leaves off...so now I have a yard of dead grass & leaves! Lovely...

Please, let it rain today!!! Everyone: go wash your car so it will rain!

I'll go turn on my sprinkler (the HORROR!!!!). That usually guarantees a good rain within a few hours!

I watered three of my trees yesterday ... and then it rained! So I'm watering them again this morning in the hope that it will rain again.

Vicki sings...LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN.

One of my clients called from The Park at West Lake in Cary to tell me that she had gone outside in the "tornado like winds" to bring in her hanging plant baskets that were twisting in the wind (isn't that a song too?) and the tree across the street from her house broke in half and fell across the neighbor's yard (not house, thankfully). She claimed it was a 60 foot tree!

I love my clients!

Vicki
