This is not that different from where I live now (in suburban MA). HS and MS both start at 7:40 and let out at 2:10 (they share a campus so the bus run picks up both kids). There is an enforced 45 min study hall for all athletes and after school sports start at 3PM. We have 3 elementary schools in town divided up weirdly, I'll admit. We have a K-1 school (all K-1 kids go to this school), a 2-3 school (same) and a 4-5 school. The K-1 and 4-5 schools are on the same street, so their hours are 8:35 to 2:35 and the 2-3 school is across town and its hours are 9:10-3:10. The reason my town does this is that the same bus serves all the schools. So, if your house is on the "Bus #15 run, the same driver will come down the street and pick up the HS/MS kids, then return for the K-5 kids and then return again for the 2-3 kids.
There is a mid-day Kindergarten run to drop off AM kindergartners and pick up PM kindergartners.
It was confusing to me 10 years ago when we moved here but it really makes a lot of sense now.
Studies have shown that teenagers aren't at their full mental capacity early in the morning. I'm certainly not. And I get whiny if my kids wake me up at 7am If I ever have a child on that early of a schedule it's time to home school
Wait...7:07 and 7:47???
I can see alot of kids being late for class, having their watches set at a minute difference from the school.
Its like they are setting them up..lol.
Why are they more likely to be late starting at 7:07 than at 7:10 or 7:15? If their watches are off from school time, they will be late regardless of the time the school starts.
nehomesomeday- that sounds just downright mindboggling :-)
ferrick- you're welcome (I needed to know it too for Cooper)
Indigo- Agreed- That's why the 8:45 start time for elementary is looking kind of nice to me right now. maybe homeschool when they get up higher.
