I'm a Rhode Island native who's been living in Smithfield (Johnston County) for 3 years now, and NC is my home. I'm looking to move closer to Raleigh, but I'm not familiar enough with the area to narrow my search. I work in Willow Springs, and I'm looking to keep my commute less than 30 mins.

I'm a teacher, so cheap apartments are a MUST. I'd love to live in an area that's 'hip' and diverse. Suggestions??

Hi Erin, Rhode Island born and bred here too. Try the Glenwood South area of Raleigh.

All the post WWII apartments across from St. Mary's College and next to Cameron Village are probably her best budget friendly ideas near Glenwood South.

There are also a lot of house rentals (or portion-of-house rentals) in the Boylan Heights area, which is considered a pretty "cool" address and Historic.

What about the Cameron Village condos? Usually there is one or two for rent. Some people get their Agents to post them in MLS but I've seen signs in yards too.
