As a mature single Christian person (almost 40, yikes!) I have had problems in my city meeting people, for friends and dating, etc. The area is very transient because of the military and the feel of the area is just not appealing to me. I have heard others say the same thing because of the military but I cannot compare because this is the first large city I have ever lived in. I am hoping to move to Raleigh in the near future and looking forward to being apart of a church, singles groups and just being active in my community. Is this a realistic expectation? I actually can't imagine it being more difficult to meet people and make friends but I would hate to move only into the same situation. I am an engaging and social person and hoping to find a similiar environment. Any advice and info is greatly appreciated.

Try Crossroads Fellowship's singles ministry.

Hope Community Church (Hope Community Church) has been an amazing church for me.

Overall it's not the churches I am wondering about. Where I live there is probably hundreds of churuches. I am moreso asking about the ability to gain friendship and wondering if there is a sense of community in the region. So far (from what I can read) there does seem to be.

Of course meeting people depends a LOT on who you are and what you like to do but I would say this area is very friendly. It is very easy to meet people and get involved in things.

The churches help you meet a good class of single as opposed to some of the clubs.

I think there is a web site called meetup.com that helps groups of people with common interests in the same area "meet up". I think there are plenty of singles groups from every religion on there. Might be a good place to start to gauge what is going on in the area.
