Associates in Womens Healthcare is GREAT! All women as far as I know. Dr Moody is especially wonderful.
I second this! I'm out of the baby-making business, but I would have gladly gone to this practice if they had been around back then. Dr. Moody did my hysterectomy this summer, and she was wonderful.
Cary Women's Health Alliance in Waverly Place (behind Whole Foods) is mostly female, only one male (Dr. Anthony) that you would possibly deal with, but he is actually one of my favorite doctors of all 5 of them. I prefer female doctors as well and have only had quick 15-minute prenatal visits with Dr. Anthony where he basically checks for baby's heartbeat (no undressing!) so I've been lucky. In my opinion it is well worth the "risk" of having a male doctor at the delivery, these doctors are all wonderful.
I agree with Mid-Carolina. I only saw one male doctor one time during my pregnancy and all of the doctors are really great. Rex was also a fantastic hospital- everyone there was wonderful.
I don't have any recommendations but I'd like to steer you away from Dr. Christy Clayton at Cary Women's Center. I saw her a few times earlier this year for emergency gynecological issues (was referred to her by Cary WakeMed's Emergency Department, surprisingly) and found her and most of the office assistants to be very unprofessional. After having this not so great experience, I looked her up online to read some reviews and couldn't find one positive thing said about her.
I saw her years ago when she was Dr. Clayton-McCaskill and had a similar experience. I was not impressed at all by their practice.
Congrats on your pregnancy! Just wanted to say that I used the UNC Midwives with my first pregnancy and ended up being delivered by a male doctor. If you have an uncomplicated pregnancy, you should be able to deliver with the midwives no problem. But, if you have complications, particularly on an emergency level, be prepared that you have to use whoever is staff at UNC Hospitals.
I used Wake Specialty physicians in Wake Forest - Love, love, love, underscore, bold, and asterisk LOVE them. Lots of Women docs, a couple of men docs. I delivered 2 babies with them - would deliver with them again if the factory wasn't closed and the workers sent home.
Thanks to you all for your replies and advice! I have picked Midwives practice at UNC. I have been there once and they seem to be very nice! Actually I had to make this decision right after I posted this question over here so I went with what toot68 suggested and it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
@beachbum98 - Thanks! I understand what you have said, God forbid if an emergency happens then I know nothing can be done except for seeing whoever is available.
ah.. my bad! It's actually April 2011, so dumb of me!
