I'm moving to Raleigh for a few months while my daughter begins her freshman year at NC State. How can I find a reasonably nice, furnished apartment with a short (three months or less) lease? We're arriving for Orientation, and my chance to look around, late next week. I just don't know where to start.

Is anyone there? I would really appreciate your suggestions. I can be flexible on location, but I am not familiar with the area and wouldn't want to find myself in an unsafe area or too near student housing. I am hoping for a one bedroom, furnished apartment (washer/dryer included) within a half-hour of NC State, a two or three month lease beginning mid-August, in a nice complex near a public library, grocery store, and some shopping. Corporate housing is just too expensive, something unique and charming is probably a fairy-tale, but a reasonably-sized apartment with generic furniture in a good complex would be great. Is under $1,000/month unrealistic? Please help me!
