I had to start looking into restaurants for Thanksgiving this year, and I thought I'd share what I've learned so far. Hope this helps others who don't want to / can't cook on Thanksgiving. All prices are for 1 adult (no kids in our party) and either rounded to a whole number or are estimates based on last year. All are buffets, unless noted otherwise.

Heron's at The Umstead Hotel
12-7. $65

Angus Barn
Buffet 12-6. $45

Margaux's
11-5:45. $35

Bogart's
11-7. $35

Michael Dean's
11-7. $35

Brasa
all day. Still doing the meat-to-the-table thing (includes turkey), but salad & hot bar will have more traditional Thanksgiving fare than usual. $30ish

Peak City Grill
11-4. Staff didn't know exact price yet.

Irregardless Cafe
11-8. Plated dinners, not buffet. Turkey dinner is $20.

My thoughts: The best bargain for a buffet is Bogart's / Michael Dean's. Food at both is always great. Irregardless would be perfect for those not wanting to gorge themselves at a buffet, and it offers several vegan choices along with the traditional turkey, beef, chicken, & seafood. Angus Barn's buffet is a local favorite, and we'll probably take our out of town guests there, just because it's so unique.

Anybody know of any others?

That seems pretty cheap for Brassa. On a normal day the cost is around $45 or so.

Washington Duke Inn always has a very good Thanksgiving (and Christmas) spread. Probably pricier than most everything on your list though (around $60 I'm guessing)

I did Bogarts last year and it was good. But....they didn't have cranberry sauce! How does one have a traditional Turkey-Day buffet without cranberries?

I've done Bogart's, Margaux's, and Carver's Creek. I believe Carver's Creek went out of business though. Bogart's was pretty traditional. Margaux's had some really interesting combinations and I liked theirs a lot.

We ate at Il Palio at the Siena hotel in Chapel Hill. It was an awesome meal. We caught them between the brunch and early dinner buffet and had the best of both worlds. Service was slightly spotty but the actual buffet was spot on. We are hoping they do it again this year so we can return!

Does anyone else have recommendations for Chapel Hill area, possibly Durham, for Thanksgiving dinner? We are coming from Maryland. Thanks.
