A very good article from the huffington post focusing on the transplant aspect of this:

Hey, we are lucky they put cuffs on Barber and took him to the slammer, because we don't want him in Raleigh, after all he has done to bring down the area.

The 1000 Wake county socio-economic loons can protest all they want. The voters spoke and we now have a mandate to correct the busing fiasco. Not all board positions are up at the same time by design, but all residents have the same right to vote for their representative when the seat is up. The total votes brought us this new board and a new direction. The people have spoken and now we just sit a laugh at the loons who are crying over spilled milk. The more they act like idiots, as in their funny protest today, the more it brings attention to the stupid and outdated busing policy we used to have in place. The more the word gets out how behind the times we were, the more pressure there will be for the socio-economic loons to shut the heck up.

Happy day for the majority.

How can it benefit any child to spend 2-3 hours of their day sitting on a bus??

How can parents be involved in a school on the other side of town??

Hmmm so will history record Letters from a Raleigh Jail?

I don't think it's necessarily "the majority." It's Garner. Garner has been crapped on by the busing policy and ignored by the WCPSS. Our schools have more bused and free and reduced kids than any other town. We (not me personally) elected Tedesco, not the majority of Wake County.

The busing policy has worked well for a lot of kids over the years. I have a friend that was bussed from K-12, 45 minutes each way, and was glad that she was. She attended a great school because of it. Speaking of "outdated," how outdated is segregation? That is what will happen without the busing. There will be "black" and "white" schools.

you may want to read some history and comments like this are what throws flames on the fire and doubles the numbers at the next protest. How has he bought down the area? Please be specific as sensitive readers might speculate the wrong way!

And the more protesters it brings out and the more it rekindles the flame in many others. Have you noticed how their numbers have grown? Is there a bridge we can make them cross and arrest them at that point?

Seems like Barber is feeling the love from a lot of people.

I don't think that the comparison is valid.
