The Charlotte County web site is down right now or I would provide the link. You need to go to the Charlotte County Tax Collectors office for registering the boat and the trailer. Here is the FL DMV site that has the fees, etc. Florida Boat Registration, Licenses, Forms, Insurance Requirements & Information | DMV.org

Trailers weighing less than 2,000 lbs do not need a title. Florida - Register Off-Road Vehicles, Snowmobiles, Motorhomes, RV and More With The FL DMV | DMV.org

Don't worry about the motor, they don't need a title. Trailers normally do in this state, but if he has an old trailer registration that is usually just as good (there is a transfer form on the back of my registrations). Make sure you get a bill of sale for the trailer (notarized would be a huge plus).

I had quite a few trailers down here and only hold 1 registration....and swapped plates back and forth between them. Legal, no....but every cop I asked has said not to worry, they know how difficult registering certain trailers can be and they don't check vin #'s unless there is a real reason to.

Motors don't need a title and outboard motors are not taxed only the boat, make sure the owner separates the cost of motor, boat and trailer.

On A Side Note.. You are Taxed only on the USED Boat Hull and Trailer .. Have a Bill Of Sale showing Boat Hull Value Motor Value Trailer Value and " Stuff" value...No Tax On Motor GPS Depth Sounder PFD etc etc etc FLA. ONLY TAXES Boat Hull and Trailer cost.. EXAMPLE... $6000 sale of used BM&T .. Boat Hull $1000 Trailer $1000 Motor and listed accesories $4000... You are taxed on $2000 in this scenario NOT he Full $6000.. JSYK.... Owner and You signs bill of said sale...
