Ooooh nooooo, avocados are good stuff when you catch them in the 7-8 minute window when they're perfect. (My husband agrees with YOU, however.) What's your opinion on cilantro?
I like cilantro, actually. I think my opinion about avocados can be traced back to when I was a very young child. I had a babysitter once who told me that avocados taste like cold cream. I'd never tasted one before, so I really had no reason to disbelieve her. When I finally tasted one, I discovered that she was right! Actually, over the years, I have really tried to like them, and I know I'm in the minority. I just don't, and it's not likely to change.

Cold cream! No kidding! I'm staring at the pile of avocados in a bowl on my table right now, thinking about smearing them on my face.
I don't like green peppers and I can trace that back to childhood. I like yellow, orange, and red peppers. Green give me hiccups and just taste "wrong" to me. But most people like them, so I get being in the minority about certain foods. I always thought I might "grow into them." But I never have and I'm almost 50. Maybe when I'm 75 I'll start liking them? And you'll grow an appreciation for avocados.

My opinion of avocados can be traced to when they taste like blecch.
They taste like smooth, creamy bad breath to me.
They make no sense in a sandwich. The meat is already gooshy. What you need is fresh crunch to offset that. Not gooey bad breath.
Interestingly, I spent a summer working on a mountain top in rural southern Mexico. There were avocados there that you could just pluck. They were small, but they were really quite delicious. It was like a weird, fresh concentrated taste.

That's gonna be Subway's newest sandwich- "Smooth, creamy bad breath."
Maybe I don't actually like avocados when they're plain, now that I think about it? I always mix them with lime and cilantro and onions. (I guess you'd call that guacamole, huh?)

I also hate yellow, orange and red peppers. I can deal with the green ones if they are fried up with peppers and onions and put on a piece of crusty Italian bread. Despise cilantro. Made myself a healthy frozen dinner the other night and I took one bite and tasted cilantro and threw it away. I should have checked the ingredients better since it was some kind of Mexican bowl and they always seem to use cilantro in Mexican food. It must be an unwritten law.
I do like avocados and put them on my sandwich in place of mayo sometimes or on a salad and especially love them on an omelet with some sour cream. Yummy.
I am happy to report that I am ignoring all avocados, peppers, and any other food that I just bought from the grocery store. My friend and I are going out for Indian food. My fully stocked kitchen... want nothin' to do with that!
My pantry and freezer are full. Hard to find a place for new bargains from my salvage grocery store. And to top it off I am on the ketogenic way of eating (for a year) and am never hungry.
