I've noticed Brazilians tend to follow these things:
-First years of the 90's or recent(from 2006) success - Periods when the NFL was broadcast in Brazil.
-Teams with succesful players(mostly QB's) who have been playing for a long time(Brady, both Manning's, Favre/Rodgers, Brees etc).
-Teams with more supporters in the US.
What surprises me more is that New England Patriots is currently the most popular team in UK, it's totally weird. Why would people in England support a team with that name?
Maybe the NFL International Series, IMO, should go to Cuba because Major League Baseball is hoping to have spring training played in Cuba.
MLB is going to Cuba because baseball has long been popular in Cuba. (There were various Cubans who got into MLB before Fidel Castro, himself a former amateur baseball player, took over in Cuba in 1959 and diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Cuba fell apart.) To my knowledge, the NFL isn't nearly as popular in Cuba.
The NFL should hold (another) regular season game or two in Mexico, perhaps including at least one outside of Mexico City, and possibly a regular season game or two in Brazil.
It should be noted that although Mexico and Brazil have a higher number of NFL fans, Canada has a higher number of NFL fans per capita (though it is only slightly higher than Mexico).
2013 populations:
Brazil: 200.4 million
Mexico: 122.3 million
Canada: 35.2 million
EDIT: On a per capita basis, it looks like Australia ranks ahead of Brazil as well, behind only Canada and Mexico (which are both considerably ahead).
