I guess game consoles from the mid 90s aren't vintage, but anyone know where I might find N64 controllers in Portland?

There are actually a lot of companies that still make N64 controllers. It was a very popular console which had a number of games that are still very popular today (Mario 64, Zelda OoT, Zelda MM, DK 64) so a number of accessories are still manufactured to cater to those who still play with the original console. Plus with an adapter you can use the contoller on the Wii, which many choose to do.

So, if you want a used N64 controller you could probably go to a local game store (a quick search brought up CD/Game Exchange which has 5 locations in the Portland area) or if you want a new controller you can just do a search on amazon...you can also buy used controllers from amazon but with the N64's touchy analog stick you really want to handle it before you buy a used one...if anyone played Mario Party extensively on one that thing is trashed.

P.S. After writing the above I realized my link to the game store might be interpreted to mean they have N64 controllers. I have no idea if they do, it was just an example of a local store that deals in used games which might be able to help you. They don't seem to list their inventory on their website so you'll probably have to call them or go there to find out.

Part of the fun of going into these stores is the browsing.

Game Trader in the Cedar Hills Mall in Beaverton is a good source.

Also http://www.gamehavenclassic.com/ is in Tigard. Another place with a decent selection of stuff to browse.

There's also Retro Game Trader Home on Farmington Road just west of downtown Beaverton.
