Thanks again everyone for your kind input and advice!
Better choice. Let us know how it all works out. Best of luck with the interview.

Well, everything went mostly well (especially the interview, fingers crossed!!). The sucky thing is that we went ahead and reserved a car from Dollar at PDX airport through kayak.com thinking it was a fairly good deal ($55 for a compact...he wanted to just get it from the airport and not try to screw around with getting to an off-site location even though it would be cheaper), just to have him get there and be told there were no cars in that range available and stuck him with a minivan for $109. He didn't want to fight it or try to go to another rental place (he said they all had super long lines and wasn't sure he could do better). Anyhoo, the last time I talked to him was last night when he was headed downtown to find dinner and check it out a bit. He's currently on his way home. I look forward to hearing the rest of the adventure

You got scammed. You had a reservation. They have to upgrade at no charge. Contact Kyak and see if they can get your money back.

Congrats on the interview.

Actually, it turns out that when he went to turn in the car this morning, they indicated some kind of error had been made and he accidentally was given someone else's vehicle. Apparently the attendant only asked him his last name and there was another reservation with the same last name. So they voided the original transaction and he paid the correct price. So all worked out well!

If he gets the job and we decide to move up there, I'll probably be hanging around here more. You all are very kind and helpful! I'll try and see if I can find answers/info before posting a bunch of identical threads
