I'm following up on a thread I started in August about whether to switch from AT&T to Verizon when I get an iPhone 5 in the near future. My AT&T 3G service, which was fine for the first three years, has deteriorated badly this past year (i.e., more dropped calls, conversations where one person can hear the other but not vice versa, dropouts, and one or two bars in locations where I used to get three or four). Other people I've spoken with have have experienced this, too. The consensus on this forum was that Verizon has much better 3G service than AT&T, its 4G service is very good, and AT&T didn't yet have LTE. I just read that AT&T's LTE service went live on September 21. Has anyone here experienced it yet? If so, how good is it? I'm especially interested in hearing from people whose AT&T 3G service was bad, but who are happy with their LTE. I'd prefer to stay with AT&T because I get a 20% corporate discount and because I'm grandfathered into their unlimited data plan, but if their LTE is as bad as their 3G, I'll jump ship to Verizon.

I get LTE at the airport, downtown and at work in Beaverton. Upside is the speed, the downside is the battery life on my Samsung SII Sykrocket. So far so good...

I live in Beaverton and work downtown, so that's good to hear. Thanks!

I had AT&T when I moved to Portland a couple months ago and was very disappointed in their service. I had to stand on my balcony just to get reception. I recently switched to Verizon and the difference is night and day! Also the LTE service is super fast.

The AT&T LTE coverage in my recent experience has been very fast and covers much of the greater metro area. I have been very happy with it, I had no idea it would be as fast as it is.
