Hi!

I'm thinking of starting a business where I tear up portions of peoples' useless lawns to construct a raised or ground level planter for vegetables or pretty flowers. Do you think that this idea would be popular in SE Portland, specifically Sellwood/Moreland? Would the residents have enough time to tend their planters to even consider investing in one?

Thank you!

I have seen these in SE Portland area around Hawthorne where I live. You see people here constantly teneding their lawns that often have planters with veggies or flowers. I have seen these right along the curb where there is a litte bit of lawn or as we used to call the space when I live in Chicago; the parkway.

So I think people like them but I don't know if it isn't more of a do-it-yourself project.

Default love to garden-hate to mow

I would think a lot of the people whom "square foot" gardening would appeal to would be the DIY type.

Making the boxes and other needed supplies for this might be a good item. Sell the package. Raised frames, soil testing and set up. All organic of course.

Inner SE and NE probably best customer base from what I can recall from my last visit to the old neighborhood.

Might want to consider a broader landscaping type service that caters to the small but beautiful garden space: lawn care, shrubs, design and maintenance.
