I've pretty much made up my mind that I want to move to Portland when I leave Ohio. But the past week has reminded me of something I hate dealing with during this part of each year.....my horrible allergies. Is Portland (and other parts of Western Oregon) known for it's allergy problems with respect to ragweed and pollen, etc...? I'm just asking out of idle curiosity - it's honestly not something that would keep me from moving there.

Thanks.

I guess I can presume, by the lack of responses, that there aren't any people that deal with allergy problems in the area. Cool!

Well, if it's any consellation I'm allergic to neo conservatives and republicans and I disagree with anyone who doesn't see the resemblance between George Bush and Alf.

I moved here from CA and have less allergy problems than I do here. However, if you're allergic to molds you might have problems. It really depends what you're allergic to.

Smile Allergies

We just moved here from Michigan and our allergies here are as fierce as ever. I don't know what they are specifically from. I just take a Claritin as I always have and that works really well for me!

i have that general spring pollen allergy (the only year i didnt have it was when i lived in the middle of this dirty city...no trees or flowers in sight) ;-)

for what it's worth, when we visited in mid-May, my allergies didn't bother me at all, while they would've been going strong in NY/MA. this is most likely due to the earlier spring in Portland, though

Okay, so it sounds like at worst I will probably deal with the same thing I deal with here in Ohio - if at all. Like I said, either way it doesn't matter. It wouldn't stop me from moving to Portland. Thanks for the responses.
