Temporary housing means an apartment, since all the houses I've seen require a one year lease.
Padmapper is recommended a lot for apartment hunting but I've never used it personally. Housing rentals (even with a one year lease) are
extremely scarce and go very quickly, and I've heard that apartment rentals are also hard to find and go fast. The cat is probably going to make your search even more difficult, so you might want to consider leaving it with a friend or something temporarily.
