Rarely do families who live in posh neighborhoods send their kids to private schools out of concern for the education offered in their local public school. Of course some do because they want a faith based education. Non-parochial private schools include Oregon Episcopal School (an international school curriculum), Catlin Gable, French American School off Cornell Road, there is a small private school across from Montgomery Park. Montgomery Park is the largest office building in the city, odds are the school serves parents who work there in large part. Doubtless there are others.

Ladd's Addition is posh? To me it just looked like any neighborhood with beautiful old homes.

The streetscape in Ladd's Addition is considerably nicer than most of the neighborhoods in Portland, and the prices of the homes there reflects that fact. Obviously, Ladd's is not as "posh" as Portland Heights or Dunthorpe, but it is still one of Portland's top neighborhoods, IMHO.

Portland really doesn't do "posh." There are more upscale neighborhoods, with more expensive houses. But the whole country-club/private school kind of lifestyle is not really common here. At least, not to my awareness.

I'd call Forest Heights posh.

EnricoV, it does seem that way. Posh = Beverly Hills, Greenwich, CT, East Hampton, TriBeCa, Summit Blvd in West Palm Beach, etc. People in Portland do not seem so intent upon flaunting their wealth and materialism, from my limited exposure.

Lake Oswego is ok, I would not consider it posh by any means.
