whats your favorite thing about portland if you had to choose one?

a little background info im 21 and my husband is 23, we have lived in illinois for most of our lives and seeing as i work from home and make a decent wage i can live anywhere we choose, we lived in socal for a year and liked it but l.a is expensive and we are looking for a new adventure. i have been vegan for almost three years and my husband is a vegetarian considering going vegan. he loves beer i love coffee we both love rain and mountains i want to live in the city but with more of a small town feel, so it seems Portland would be great for us. im a little worried about the seeming lack of dubstep/electronic music events but im sure there has to be something of the sort to find.

Sounds like Portland might just work out for ya' considering you all won't NEED work.......Its got lots of rain, lots of coffee, lots of beer and lots of vegetarian/vegans. It might just be your Mecca.

I had to chuckle about the dubstep/electronic music scene remark. Unless you live in Chicago, which if you did it would seem you would have mentioned so, Portland will have you covered in spades. This isn't to say their electronic scene is amazing, but it beats most all midwestern locations save for the MAJORMAJOR cities.

A good runner-up is the incredible public transpo for a city of its size.
sounds excellent

There won't be as much of scene as Chicago, but there is a substantial scene especially with dubsteps popularity as of late.

The music scene in Portland is a bit skewed toward a few genres specifically. Locals can give you more info.
