The lousy employment rate was pretty much the only thing holding back the tide of scaredy cats who were afraid to live the dream.

Prepare for Hipstergeddon, Portland!

I'm just saying that last decade the PDX managed to gain 300,000 folks while dealing with a relatively low birth rate and negative job growth.

Now, the PDX is picking up the employment pace during a period in which the baby boom echo of the late eighties and early nineties are hitting their prime "moving to a whole new city" years. And I have a feeling that Portland was already high on their list.

Ah, I see. It will be interesting to see what if any impact this has for the future.

Wrong again my cynical friend!

Watching the slow decline of America during the last decade, it’s been all too easy to become increasingly pessimistic and cynical. And while its had its effect on me, I’ve never lost my faith in the American people. Granted that on the whole they may be as sharp as a sack of potatoes, ignorant and bigoted, but they’re decidedly not lazy or lacking a strong work ethic.

On the contrary, the Protestant work ethic handed down over the years is still very much alive and well. Statistically Americans work more hours and have less time off than just about any other western industrialized nation.

No, I don’t blame Americans, I blame the politicians who’ve sold out to the corporations that have no allegiance except to the almighty dollar and the professional hate merchants who’ve turned Americans against each other by playing on their aforementioned ignorance and bigotry.
