Held at the Manatee Observation and Education Center, 480 N. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce. Firefighters from more than 45 cities across the nation converge downtown to compete. Wearing full gear, they race head-to-head, individual and tandem competitions, simulating the physical demands of firefighting by performing five tasks: climbing a five-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing victims. The St. Lucie County Library System is hosting a Costume Swap on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1 – 3 p.m., giving parents and children a chance to trade their old Halloween costumes for something different. Residents are encouraged to drop off their gently used costumes to any St. Lucie County Branch Library before Saturday, Oct. 5. The Library staff will also accept donations of new costumes to help those in need of a Halloween outfit. Costumes must be in clean/wearable condition. Those that donate a costume will be provided a ticket that they can exchange for a “new to you” costume at the Costume Swap event. Red, White & YOU 5K Run / Walk Sunday 7:30 am PGA Golf Club St. Lucie West PGA Golf Club – the PGA of America’s award-winning 54-hole facility – will host the “Second Annual Red, White & YOU Fairway 5K Run / Walk” on Sunday, Oct. 20. Open to everyone, the race begins at 6:45 a.m. with kick-off ceremonies. The 5K run / walk begins at 7 a.m., and a post-race celebration commences at 8 a.m. Entry is $30 and includes a race shirt and breakfast All proceeds benefit PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), the flagship military program of the PGA of America’s charitable foundation PGA REACH. United States military veteran suicide is an ongoing phenomenon regarding a reportedly high rate of suicide among U.S. military veterans, in comparison to the general public. According to the most recent report published by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in 2016, which analyzed 55 million veterans' records from 1979 to 2014, the current analysis indicates that an average of 20 veterans a day die from suicide. This event is a 2-hour repeating 2k-lap walk to represent the 22 suicide deaths a day by our military service members as a result of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or other service related conditions. Ring in the season aboard a special free non-stop 45-minute Holiday Lights Bus Tour of decorated homes in PSL on December 19, 2019. The #PSLinLights holiday bus tour will travel around a designated route highlighting the contestants who entered the PSLinLights Holiday Lights Contest.
Starting December 5, 2019 at 9 a.m., free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and this tour fills up quickly. To ensure as many light enthusiasts can attend, there is a six (6) ticket limit, maximum. There are three ways to get these free tickets:

This year’s PSLinLights’s holiday bus tour was made possible by the City’s Neighborhood Improvement and Community Engagement (NICE) Program.
