Operation SOS: New spay/neuter voucher program

PALM CITY — In response to the high demand for low cost spay and neuter services in the area, Caring Fields Felines is hosting Dr. Julie Kit tams with Operation SOS at the CFF sanctuary in Palm City every Friday.

Operation SOS is partnering with CFF as a community outreach program working to decrease the number of homeless cats and kittens in the area.

This is a voucher program for cats only.

The cost per cat is $40 and includes a rabies vaccine.

Everything is done on site in the medical van by Dr. Julie and her vet tech Amber Sweatt.

Drop off is between 8 and 9 a.m. and pick up at 4 p.m. unless you’re called for an earlier pick up.

There is no limit to the number of cats you can bring, but they must be in a carrier or a trap if feral.

There are 20-30 slots available every Friday, depending on the sex. Spaying is a lengthier surgery than neutering and requires more recovery time.

Kittens must be a minimum of 2 lbs.

To sign up for a slot, go on the Operation SOS website at https://www.operationsos.net/.

Calling won’t work because both Dr. Julie and Amber are always working, so the website is the only option for signing up.

The website will also give you information about other locations where the van will be that may be more convenient for you.

Dr. Julie and Amber travel to PSL, Martin County, Okeechobee and Fort Pierce.

We love Dr. Julie because she has also taken over the medical care for all the CFF sanctuary cats and it’s a wonderful service to have right on the property.

Follow Caring Fields Felines on Face-Book for kittens & adult cats available for adoption at PetSmart or the sanctuary and information on our upcoming Merry Meows holiday event, Dec. 8, 4-8 p.m.

Caring Fields Felines

For more information about this nokill sanctuary in Palm City, call 772 4637386 or visit Caring Fields Felines or its Facebook Page.
