it's gonna be difficult for them to point the finger at the GOP as being in the pocket of big business, but no doubt they'll try

President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are promising a climactic clash with Wall Street, but there’s a complication in their battle plan: The Democratic Party is closer to corporate America — and to Wall Street in particular — than many Democrats would care to admit.
Former White House counsel Greg Craig has just signed on as an institutional Sherpa for Goldman Sachs, the iconic financial firm facing fraud charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Former House Democratic leader Dick Gephardt lobbies for Goldman Sachs, Visa and the coal industry. Former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle — Obama’s first choice to head Health and Human Services — is an adviser for a lobbying firm that represents Charles Schwab, Comcast, Lockheed Martin, Verizon and a host of other corporate interests. It's all one big facade. Liberals believe Democrats will hand them all the free benefits in the world, and conservatives believe Republicans will drill down on the national debt via reduced spending.
The sad part is that Democrats will be successful in this entitlement-minded society we live in, and Republicans will be unsuccessful in this entitlement-minded society we live in.
The best days of the United States are FAR, FAR behind her, not ahead of her. It's only a matter of time before the perfect storm of financial strain and geopolitical consternation collide to take down the Earth's only truly great nation.
These corporate entities fund those who have power preferentially over those who don't. But they cover themselves by tossing more than just a small bone to those who don't have power right now, but one day might. That kind of rules out a lot of Republicans at the moment, so more money is gong to Democrats. Turn back the clock to the hey-day of the Bush administration (such as it was), and you'll see things tilted the other way.
Where the difference lies is in what the parties do with power once they get it. The Great Bush Recession and its dark and still lingering effects are a not so gentle reminder of what the Republicans do. Increases in the minimum wage, the stimulus bill and its tax cuts and support for the poor and unemployed, along of course with health care reform, are more the sort of things that Democrats tend to do. Take your pick...

We have two choices.
We can choose to once again be a nation of producers and make manufacturing, agriculture and technology the central axises of our economy.
OR
We can pretend we can once again be a consumer debt driven society (I say pretend because I believe the fat cats are abandoning Americans for greener Asian pastures). We can go back to our American Idol, our Rush Limbaugh and blame the blacks, the gays, the jews for all our problems while wealthy gambling addicts roll dice with our collective tax dough.

Both Dems and Repubs are in their pocket. The difference is, the Dems are more willing to not let that sway their legislating. I said more willing, not like the GOP, who seems to be, unwilling. There is a distinct difference.

The difference may not be so distinct to those unable to deal with other than a black-and-white world. Hue, lightness, and saturation seem to have no inherent meaning at all in the minds of some people...
