Riddle me this OP...if the British Empire outlawed slavery in 1807, and the Dread Scott decision took place in 1857...that's 50 years, that the United States continued slavery. Do you think we did it just b/c we wanted to be different? Or on your incorrect bent that the 50 years between decisions or even the 6 years between Scott and the Emancipation Proclamation were just "warm-up" for your benevolence and *cough*, *cough* "good deeds"?
I think you're (OP) just trying to shift blame and make yourself feel better, by attempting to make someone else try to feel worse. Too bad most here see it for what it is.
I think that you just want to keep blaming all your failures on others or your just another indoctriated kid who can't help it and I guess if thats the case I feel a little responsible for allowing them to do it to you .
Far as slavery goes it's a human thing not a white or black one,and I don't feel quilty in the least ,never owned one and never apologized for those who did, no quilt ,no apology .

I don't know many black people who blame anyone for slavery. Honestly, I don't know a single black person who ever thinks about slavery. Its past history, no one today owned a slave, no one today was a slave, thats it, leave it alone.
Do you think that people of African decent are banning with Mexican illegal immigrants, in a plot to take over the country or something?

No way would I ever hide or make attempt to hide my dislike for illegal criminal alians . This is not about them though . But since you brought them up, I will say more are on welfare than work, 1 works, 50 get welfare . Hope they go home and take people like you with them .
I can't figure out why you are picking on Alex Haley. He was a decorated Coast Guard veteran who wrote a book about tracing the his ancestery via one of his grandparents.
He was awarded a special award by the Pulitzer committee and his book inspired thousand of Americans to start looking into their roots. No one ever disproved anything he wrote in the book.
You are certainly entitled to your opinions but heck, leave the the guy alone. He isn't around anymore to defend himself.

I'm sure he had some good points and I always thank our vets and honor them, but tracing his roots had nothing to do with the movie and it should have been more factual .

Since your white and probably young, why not trace some of your own roots not the ones the schools tell you about but the ones that are true . All tribes have assets and defects, they are human.

the fact would still remain that the most pernicious forms of racism and discrimination that found their origins in the American version of the slave trade, sits solely on the shoulders of white America.
And also on the shoulders of the other African tribes that sold their captured tribes into slavery.

Thanks for the compliment but I am 57. I pretty much know about all of my ancestery except for my paternal grandfather. And I just found some information that will help search his roots.
I read the book and saw the movie. It wasn't that far off although we all know that Hollywood takes liberties when adapting something. But Haley was involved in the making of the move which is why it was so close. And really nowhere in the book or the movie did I ever see anything about him telling black people to blame white people in the present about what happened in the past.
And I just can't address Hitler since I see nor comparison between him and Alex Haley or an person that looks into their ancestery.
