and FACTS are still FACTS....approximately 47% of WORKING americans pay little to NO federal INCOME tax

you have not 'debunked' a 'gop' talking poinbt

the point (not by the gop, btw) has always been that a percentage (currently about 47%) pay ZERO in federal INCOME tax, and many get back MORE than they originally put in (example...taxes out of my checks was around 3k.....but I got back 6k)

I pay nearly 25% (12k a year) just in county/town property taxes
My wife makes enough to push us to about $60k and we pay plenty every year although I am on SS and have been for 15 years. Who figures your tax for you? I need to meet him.

No one said 47% are on the dole.

47 percent don't pay federal income tax.

That is fact.

No matter how many distractions the NYT threw out there they came to the same conclusion. 47% of Americans pay no federal income tax.

Thank you. I tried to say this on my post 4 pages ago.

I don't know why the NY Times reporter tried to spin it with his various side shows how the working class pay this tax, and pay this tax. There are no ways around this 47% have no federal income tax liability.

We all pay other taxes besides federal income taxes like social security taxes, medicare taxes, state sales taxes, property taxes (yes even renters because property taxes is usually figured into your monthly rents).

Not sure what what else needs to be stated. Each time, I look closer, it's still going to say the same thing 47% pay no federal income taxes.

The reason the NY Times pointed it out is due to the fact some of the right wing pundits constantly say NO TAX, instead of no federal tax.

Glad to see some others read that article and saw through it.

I've thought the same! I think while I was in college a couple years I made 12-15k and I had to pay a couple hundred bucks of federal income tax. I made somewhere around 40-50 last year and will have to pay plenty this year as well.

EVERYBODY pays a wage tax, the rich included. If you file personal income taxes, you are not exempted from paying for medicare and social security. there is a hefty "self employment" tax (15.3%) of adjusted gross income, last I checked. Just b/c they don't collect wages doesn't mean that they don't pay those taxes.

You have to be a breeder to get the child tax credits or earned income tax credits that the gov't doles out. Single ppl are singled out for punishment.

My friends, there is a whole alphabet of schedules to make income on a 1040 go away. "C" is my personal favorite.
