NEW YORK, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- While federal gun laws haven't been tightened since Barack Obama became U.S. president, states have expanded gun rights, a review of gun laws indicates.

In Virginia, the General Assembly last week approved a bill that would allow people to carry firearms in bars and restaurants serving alcohol, and the House of Delegates voted to repeal a 17-year-old ban on buying more than one handgun a month, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

Actually, Obama's hatred for gun rights is well documented. The fact no gun bans have been enacted and in fact pro-gun bills attached to federal legislation, speaks of the good work done by supporters of freedom, in response to Obama's election.

Obama has not made one minor FLINCH toward restricting your gun rights... The NRA would have had us believing that, by now, Obama would have completely outlawed handguns and be half-way toward taking back shotguns....

ATF has been busting people left and right, just confiscated TGIs shipment of AK parts because they didn't technically comply with a regulation. It's just a matter of time before the feds start going after folks who don't have the 10 or fewer foreign parts on their "assault rifles".

His own website for a long time said he wanted to bring back the AWB and to ban private sales of firearms. In the past, before his election, he has argued for handgun bans, semi-auto firearm bans, banning concealed carry nationally...all of this is well documented.

Banning semi-auto rifles would certainly pacify the public and its ability to protect itself from the government (the whole point of the 2nd amendment), since you automatically reduce the aggregate rate of fire.

Owning and carrying a firearm is the affirmation of individualism. I may be economically, socially and politically left of many of you but I support individual ownership of any kind of firearm. I would like to repeal the 1934 gun control law as well as the rest.

The spread of concealed carry permits (I do not think this should require a permit) is a definite sign of the times as more people realize the police cannot protect them from violent assault and they have to protect themselves. Apparently concealed carrying of guns by many citizens has substantially reduced assault and muggings by a significant amount in many places. Mugging a stranger is one thing but mugging an armed stranger quite another.
