Lmao, in that case I am the first environmentalist, pro-choice, Pagan, isolationist, free public education supporting right winger in history. Not to mention I support consumer protections.
not quite the first, i'm an environmentalist (though i don't believe in the global warming scam), pro choice (though i have considered the murder argument in the sense that were i to punch a pregnant woman in the stomach and kill the foetus, that would be considered murder) still pro choice though. atheist but the religious left would tar us with the same brush.
probably disagree with you on the free education thingy because we've had it for a long time and it's been a miserable failure. i'm totally with you on consumer protection in that unhindred markets with a dose of caveat emptor (common sense will do), are the best source of consumer protection! bureaucrats cut out most of the bad stuff but they hinder an EEEENORMOUS amount of the good stuff!
I consider my constitutional values to be in line with the conservative ideals of the founders

I am not far left, mind you, as I do have very negative views on illegal immigration and support tough on crime policies, but at the same time I do not think the founders were all that conservative. If they were I am convinced they would have put in a much stronger executive, and they probably would not have been as broad with the elastic clause.

Not so fast. This is a matter of great debate.
The Founding Fathers were a mix of Federalist (liberal, Hamilton for example)) and Libertarian (Jefferson for example) thinkers. And I might add, they were wise enough collectively to leave God out of the Constitution.
While times may have changed, it's fair to say, there was significant divergent thought back then as well.

my mistake for wording incorrectly. i'd say conservative because i believe in a strict adherence to the constitution at the federal level. i'd rather see a much smaller executive with more power doled out to the states. imo, that way there'd probably be a state for me, one for you, one for the nader crowd and there might even be states for the christian left, you know, pat robertson, hannity, o'reilly, limbaugh et al.
If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn`t buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for
everyone.
If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to
defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a black man or Hispanic are conservative, they see themselves as
independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of
government protection.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better
his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches
channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion
silenced. (Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about
shopping for it,
or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs
and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in
labor and then sues.
If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can
have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he's "offended".
okay...soo, what did i miss??
p.s. - don't take this to heart, only having fun...
I know a few conservatives that want to ban firearms, and also know quite a few conservatives that want to limit speech as well.

Did I ever state that those points were true? As I mentioned previously, I know many liberals who do not fit those stereotypes - guess you missed that post. So it's ok for liberals to post threads poking fun at conservatives but not for us to do the same? Maybe now you guys can understand how we feel when we are constantly made fun of.

i remember as a kid, in jr. high...i forget what class, i don't remember if it was a gov't class or history class...but the pendulum of politics was explained that the nation would swing to the left or right for so long, untill the momentum stopped, then it would swing the other way!
if that keeps up, what in sam's hell is ever going to be TRULY accomplished?!?
i think if you want to keep things "as-is", and you love to hate those evil communist liberals, or those racist capitalistic conservatives, then by all means, keep trying to prove how right you are!!
the problem is, while you're wasting time argueing why you're right, and the other is wrong...the politicians are sitting back enjoying their job security!

I agree with your assessment. It is interesting how some posters are playing right into liberal stereotypes that it isn't really a far-fetched idea that some of these "conservatives" aren't actually liberals trying to make conservatives look bad.
