"According to the National Retail Federation, retail sales over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend were $41.2 billion, up slightly from a year ago, while about 195 million consumers shopped, up from 172 million last year.
Meanwhile, Coremetrics says the average online shopper spent 35% more on Black Friday vs. a year ago, while robust sales were predicted for Cyber Monday."

Couple that with the fact the DOW is up to over 10,000.

You people realize Rome wasn't built in a day? It's not like someone can snap their fingers and create jobs. It took FDR years. With the increase in sales and the DOW slowly and surely rising demand is being created, which means in turn jobs will be increasing in the next year or so. When people have jobs, the housing market will get better (less foreclosures and bankruptcies). It's a long process that takes years. What about this don't you people get?

I'm glad that someone else around here has some sense. By the way some people on this forum talk, you'd think that they expect the economy to be perfect by next month. Patience, people! Things are slowly improving, but you have to give it time.

Time? I agree. But 1 year in, I see no new sustainable job creation - or even a plan at this point. Bigger government - yes. Green shoots? lol

But hey, at least the troops are still "coming home within 6 months"

All Obama has to do is redefine what "home" is for the troops. A nice cozy base outside Baghdad?

One thing for sure. Obama eliminated overnight the anti-war movement. Suddenly the liberals love the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. In some ways it's amazing what Obama can do, because his followers were so against those wars a year ago.

Another amazing thing, the liberals were complaining about the cost of this war a year ago, now it's a non-issue even if it must be costing considerably more with the giant escalation of it.

It has nothing to do with people wanting the economy to be perfect by next month. It has everything to do with some people hoping Obama would have failed miserably by now, which he has not. Even scarier for the right is the fact Obama may succeed.

I'm a liberal and I'm vexed he hasn't began withdrawl in Iraq but if you read any of my posts I always supported the Afghan war.

That being said, can you honestly tell me with a straight face McCain and Stepford Wife would be handlenling it any better?
