For some here, the only thing they view as mandatory is to snipe at every picayune thing they can dream up about Obama.

And if he went, the OP would start a thread about what a waste of time and money it was for him to do so.

Two reasons he should go:
-It was the most significant event in our lifetimes in which freedom overcame tyranny and he is the leader of the free world.
-It is the most significant event in the life of one of our closest allies, a nation we have bases in btw.

Re-elected Chancellor Angela Merkel is in Washington to meet President Obama as well as deliver a major speech to the US Congress. Two decades after the fall of the Berlin Wall Angela Merkel is expected to thank the United States for backing the efforts toward German reunification in 1990.

He has time to attend Corzine's campaign's more than ones, he has time for all te people who pay enough to him to stay at the WH and get private time with him, playing golf, going out on the town, flying to try to get the Olympics to the US (IMO the Olympics shouldn't be a political issue but a Sports event, and politics should stay out!), etc...

But to speak up for the people of Iran who now in their own language are shouting "bama are you with usor with them"...meaning are you helping us the people who want deocracy or are you with our president who wants to wipe Israel of the map and hae us shut up!

Or to go what is a very important time in history and spread the word about freedom in Berlin...."I'm a Berliner, Tear down that Wall, but Obama is just stating "I'm a beginner"!

Nobody cares what rightwingers complain about anymore. They shriek and call the man Hitler in one breath, in the next, he is not where he should be, at the Berlin Wall that gained Ronnie Raygun sainthood amongst wingnuts.
