Politics is a copycat game. Republicans impeached Clinton so now anything anyone does on either side that someone doesn't like, you hear calls for impeachment. It seems that you will now hear calls for reprimands.

Yes, that's right. Remember the 2003 Medicare prescription drug bill, the one that passed with the votes of 204 GOP House members and 42 GOP Senators? Anyone want to guess what it provided funding for? Did you say counseling for end-of-life issues and care? Ding ding ding!!

So either Republicans were for death panels in 2003 before turning against them now--or they're lying about end-of-life counseling in order to frighten the bejeezus out of their fellow citizens and defeat health reform by any means necessary. Which is it, Mr. Grassley?

REPUBLICANS LOVED THEIR DEATH PANELS....

You would think that if Republicans wanted to totally mischaracterize a health care provision and demagogue it like nobody's business, they would at least pick something that the vast majority of them hadn't already voted for just a few years earlier. Because that's not just shameless, it's stupid.

The Washington Monthly
The best part is that Grassley (R) who is on the Gang Of Six went on front of the cameras and the town halls to talk about Obama wanting to kill grandma, and the death panels, but when he was asked directly on face to face interview if the such things were in the bill, he said "no, they are not in the bill". And then HE PULLED OUT the coverage 'end of life' consultation from the bill.

And oh yes, Grassley voted YES for death panels in 2003.

You do understand that the term "death panels" is being used as a metaphor, right? Or did we not get to that part of school yet?

I read it. And I dismissed it as the completely distorted untruth that it is.

So you concur that since no one reprimanded Palin, that this comment also doesn't warrant any reprimands?

I don't agree because of there are significant differences.

Clinton was a good president (would have been better if he weren't so conservative). The right went bat**** insane and created every controversy they could to smear him. They finally took a minor issue and impeached.

Bush was a total incompetent who rightly should have been impeached and still should be (and jailed, too).

Now we're seeing a repeat of the Clinton treatment. There is no comparison.

The comparison is that you never heard calls for impeachment until it happened to Clinton, and now you hear it all the time for things people simply don't like - for example, incompetence, as mentioned in your post.

You never heard calls for reprimands, but it seems likely that you will start hearing about it, as evidenced by this example.

I guess Richard Nixon doesn't ring any bells, huh?

Although quite incompetent, nobody called for Bush's impeachment on account of incompetence. He was actually very competent at following Cheney and Rove's illegal directives, I must say.
