While I'm confident algore will have one sitting in his drive way soon, I seriously doubt the average joe in the US will. Oh, yeah, and this is my, your, our tax money going out of the country! I guess this is alright, though, as the US citizen is going to get a return on his money, eh?
"Fisker said most of its DOE loan will be used to finance U.S. production of a $40,000 family sedan that has yet to be designed.
"'It's the ability to drive significant change in fuel economy across a large market segment' that swayed the department to approve the Fisker loan, Mr. Rogers said. 'We got quite excited.'"
The wsj has published wnd-quality partisan crap in the past, since they were bought by RM. This "Gore-backed" idjit-mongering -- well, it's not a new low, but it's way down there.

Translation, a bank wouldnt approve it because it lacks the assurance of money being returned, and the only one foolish enough to loan the money was the government, where they are not interested in returns, or jobs, or security, they just want to make an environmental statement.
Hell, not even the investors, who do indeed have the capital to fund such a program would loan the money needed.
"Fisker's government loans will come from a $25 billion program established by Congress in 2007 to help auto makers invest in the technology to meet a new congressional mandate to improve fuel efficiency. In June, the DOE awarded the first $8 billion from the program to Ford Motor Co., Nissan Motor Co., and Tesla, which are all developing electric cars."
No. It's because Al Gore isn't a scum-sucking criminal like Cheney, for instance.
Of course he is. He's not out to save the world..he's out to make a buck, just like the rest of them only he has connections to get use of US government money for his funding.
Do his cars run on corn cobs or air so we don't have to worry about mucking up the environment by increasing the carbon foot print he is sooooo worrried about? Maybe he should lose some lard so he can decrease HIS carbon footpring. I'd like to help him with that.
US goverment should not loan 529Mil to foreign auto makers
I do not understand our goverment funding Fisker autos 529mil for a sports hybird auto to retail for 89,000. Why not have an american automaker produce this auto???
