So, obviously the US does need to do something. What should we do?
What, exactly, is our "health care situation", other than the fact that good care costs money? We have/had the best health care system in the world. People come here for treatment because it is the best, and they don't have to wait (and risk death before they can be treated).

This thread is 2 years old. Obama has not made many friends since that time.

They are sad people.

Will you please stop using his color, and saying we hate the man. Do you know we can hate his policies, the way he handles his business, or i should say not handle his business, the way he handles people who disagree with him, the blame games, the pointing of fingers at everyone but his sorry self, that is what we hate. Lack of understanding a downhill economy. And not keeping to his promise of giving to us the American people something better, definitely NOT. Change, hardly think so, in his dream.
I resent you bringing color into this, his color does not have a damn thing to do with his policies, his crappy attitude, the way he plays the blame game at every single damn person but his own sorry self. Maybe that is what we hate, who the hell cares about the Man's color, most people i know, could give a rat's a-- about his color!
And his color sure the hell has nothing to do with the NON CHANGE he brought to this Country, that requires skill.
If the man were purple i would not care, because get it thru your thick skull, the color ain't his problem, it is being arrogant, pompas, self rightous, man that cannot accept he is human, and therefore, not perfect.
He has made many mistakes, and blames everyone in creation except himself, it really starts to get iritating.

I think his race has everything to do with your problem with him. I have an idea for you. Close your eyes and listen to the man. Look at the good he is doing for the country. After the 8 years of disaster that GW Bush brought on this country, Barack is slowly bring it back and at the same time he is taking care of the little guy and the working class.

You say he's arrogant, pompas and self rightous. Why is he arrogant when every white president before him was as strong willed? Because he's black and you just can't handle it.

Bill Clinton would have ripped the republicans of this era a new ahole the way they behave.

Obama has been amazingly patient and gracious.

1. Return to market forces, i.e. cash and carry for all except emergency situations. Market forces do not exist to any real degree int he U.S. Medical Industry because it is always "somebody else" who pays for medical services rendered, usually via insurance. This will actually reduce costs, instead of increasing them and spreading the responsibility for their payment around.

As far as Obama goes, he is just another "progressive" swine doing all in his power to reinvent the USA under a blueprint diametrically opposed to its founding, its history, and it rightful place in the future of mankind as the world's leader in freedom, prosperity and self determination.

You are deceiving yourself, most completely and fully. There is not one shred of fact in your post - None, whatsoever.

Obama's plan does not "fix" anything. It is just another power grab by the Liberals/Socialist/Progressives..or whatever he and his party call themselves this week. The problem has never been a lack of medical care, but just how or who should pay for it. I'm in favor of a government medical insurance program being available for those that choose to enroll. You just go down to the IRS, fill out a form and wham, here is your card. Of course, that does open you up for an immediate on the spot audit conducted by a private outside contractor. You will give up your fair share to pay for this medical program.
= Receiving EIC? - Gone.
- Cable tv - Gone
- Cell phone - Gone
- Two cars? - Gone
- Expensive car? (You have to have a car on the approved government list)
- Expensive home? (You have to have a home on the approved government list).
- Job? Don't have one? Goverment will find you a job or two
- Lack of education - Back to school you go. Free, you just have to pay back the taxpayer once you graduate

The point is once you go asking for a taxpayer/government handout, you open yourself up for inspection by the taxpayer/government and more often than not, you won't like the rules.

The so-called "individual mandate" that gets so thoroughly slammed by the Obamaphobes is a Republican proposal. The haters hate it because Obama got it through a congress largely bought and paid for by the insurance lobby.

Do what the rest of the world does successfully: single payer.

As long as the single payer is YOU. You want it, you pay for it. Single payer, as in Uncle Sam pays for it would insure what costs $5.00 today, would cost $100 a year later 'cause everyone knows Uncle Sam has deep pockets!!!

We have a plethora of such examples. College costs, for example. Uncle Sam brings public loan-funding into effect, and guess what. Prices skyrocket to soak up all that money. It's called economics and human nature.
