The people in the '60s didn't really get what they wanted by behaving childishly; they were repudiated wholesale in the election of 1972. They had the good luck that their archenemy Nixon was eventually exposed as a criminal, but that was about the extent of their success.

This is exactly the problem I'm talking about. Its like these people got so used to having all of their policies going through like a hot knife through butter when the Republicans were in power that they can't handle liberal policies being enacted. So now when the liberals are in power, and then pass a few liberal actions, these town hall militias proceed to yell and scream at the next issue to come up without actually thinking about it, just because they don't like it.

In your post, you didn't mention anything wrong with the actual health care reform, just that these people were salty about not being in power anymore. Plus, Its not like a majority of people agree with them, we voted in a democratic congress and liberal president who told us about the bailouts, stimulus etc. I mean if there was a certain group of people being oppressed, or if someone's rights were being infringed on, I would understand them. But going by your own post, these people are just yelling and stomping their feet because they aren't getting things their way. They don't want to debate or compromise, their sole goal is to be so loud that no one can talk.

They know nothing about what "they don't want." They're just spouting talking points from FOX. Not one of the people screaming that Obama's a "socialist" could even give a definition of "cap and trade." It's all knee-jerk right-wing mob mentality, easily manipulated through fear-mongering. They were spouting the same crap about Obama--even worse--before he even won the election. So please stop acting like these people even have a clue what they're "pushing back" against, because they don't. Sure didn't seem to bother them when the Bush administration steamrolled this nation into a war and shredded the Constitution in the process.

That's really funny, considering how the Town Hall right-wing bullies are the ones spewing "emotion" all over the place.

Due to the fact that the Republican party is shrinking and has no clear leader at the moment, elements on the far right are starting to come out in to the open more. Evidence of this is that Rick Perry's republican primary numbers against Hutchison soared when he made the secession comment. The Republican base is moving so far to the right that without a proper leader to keep the more extreme elements of the party in line and silent you will start to see influential republicans taking on more and more far right positions. This is similar to what happened in the 1970s with Democrats when those on the far left started coming out more and more.

Same old same old,
you try to discuss an issue and their way to win a discussion is by labelling the other person "evil".

You write a 100 pages paper explaining the reasons why "A" is better than "B"
they say: "A is communist"
and that's all they need to say that "B" is the best option.

Rightwing media ALWAYS labels liberals as something "evil"
and then liberals spend 99% defending themselves from that attack instead of talking about the issue.

That would be why they are called "radical". It isn't because they are so cool. It's just like the radical left and any other "radical" group. They believe what they believe, what they believe, what they believe...and that's all they believe. You can't reason with the unreasonable. It's a waste of time no matter what side your on.
