Anyone care to guess what a Republican president would have done given the set of circumstances that Obama faced when he was elected? An improper response would be "He/she would NOT have...." What do you think that person would have done to help the middle-class citizen - health care, Iraqi war, huge debt (foreclosures, failing car dealerships)? Any constructive ideas?

We've been over this numerous times.

Cut spending - drastically.

You can't get out of debt by spending money you don't have.

The government has grown beyond all reason and imagination.

Tax cuts - to small business and middle class.

No more bailouts of any kind.

Pretty much the same thing, but with different names, reasons, supporters and critics.

This question has been asked many times on here. I asked too and usually Republicans do not have a good or decent answer.

Really now then why was it that the Republican leadership backed the bank bailouts?

As to cutting spending domestic spending maybe, but military spending certainly not. If you remembered McCain wanted to continue Iraq and potentially look into going into Georgia and Iran.

As to tax cuts he favored the same high end capital gains tax reductions from the tax reforms of 2001, 2003 that disproportionately benefited the top 15%. Imho he would be just as bad on the deficit as Obama and would have much worse Scotus appointees and much much worse foreign policy.

You got it! Its all the same game, just different players squeezing what they can from the middle class. We saw it for 8 years with Clinton, 8 years with Bush, and now 8 months with Obama. The only difference is that Obama is raking the wealthy too, which, guess what? S___t rolls downhill and the middle class will pay for this whole fiasco too.

Its not improper to say he/she would not ahve done sepcfic thing Obama has done.Such as the stilmulus that lacked much stimulus or paid by the UAW at tax payers expense.he certainly would ahve raised capital gains and puished Cap and trade.Bascially he would have spent the secoing half of TARP on what the congress was told on the housing criis and not on the big three and banks. The banks would also have been allowed to payback the loans. Certtainly he would have favored the UAW over scured critors like Obama pushed thru thus ruinig any chance of a housing bill between government and investors.Basi9cally he would have doe pretty much what Kennedy did in the 60's and Reagna did i teh 80's by cutting taxes to stimulate the economy. Not just gave70% to special politcal interest and 30% to infrastructure that will take years in a huge deficit balloning stimulus that has done nothing.lok at Buysh he gave a direct payment to people under 75000 income.

Obama is continuing just as McCain would have - by the agreement put in place by Bush.

Capital gains tax cuts benefit everybody who has investments young, old, working, retired.

Cut taxes... Look what Bush did and where did it get us? The country doesn't need or want to revist the last 8 years but thanks for caring...
