I think that Obama gets his first loss with this one and after that many Congress critters will realize that he is beatable. He better just run on to his amnesty bill before they go home for August break and hope that not too many Congressers get a chance to talk to their constituents about amnesty or he loses that also.
Anyway here is an article that talks about Obamacare and its possible defeat.

Roy, could you please post a link to something on this Heller amendment from some source besides a right wing blog? Like, the text of the amendment itself? I dont see it anywhere.

I haven't read the article yet. but I doubt that Obama is going to back down. This is the key issue that got him overwhelmingly elected and he knows it. When we get the public option, it will get him re-elected. Sorry naysayers.
I understand that the art of politics plays a big role in this, but wouldn't it make sense to have a thoughtful, deliberate debate that is un-rushed and free of the political grandstanding that tends to take place when legislation is rushed through? For whatever reason, Obama feels that his policy agenda has to be acted on RIGHT NOW. I personally believe that the American people would put more trust in the government if Obama took the issue to the people, and asked for their patience as he and congress work through the very complex and abundant details of reforming healthcare. Rushing such far-reaching legislation through Congress does nothing but contribute to the overall distrust the people have for the government because it has the appearance of government trying to hide something.
