If the House Dems are rebelling, you can bet the Senate dems are even more nervous.

Hot Air » Blog Archive » House Dems rebel against health-care reform

Quote:
“We need to slow down and do it right,” Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., said outside a meeting of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of 52 moderate to conservative Democrats. “It needs to do a much better job of cost containment” within the health care system, he added.

Other lawmakers said they were concerned about proposed tax increases, the rules on any government-sold insurance, and other issues that are key to implementing President Barack Obama’s call for sweeping legislation.
I guess the dems are looking at those poll numbers of obama's and getting cold feet. Remember, Pelosi and Rahm recruited conservative democrats in conservative districts to run against incumbent Republicans in 2006 & 2008.

Health care overhaul bill suffers another setback - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090709/ap_on_go_co/us_health_care_overhaul - broken link)

Quote:
WASHINGTON – The drive to remake the nation's health care system suffered yet another setback in Congress on Thursday when a pivotal group of House Democrats demanded numerous changes in legislation the leadership was drafting on a fast track.

The emerging bill "lacks a number of elements essential to preserving what works and fixing what is broken," 40 members of the Blue Dog Coalition of moderate to conservative Democrats wrote in a letter to party leaders. To win their support, they said, any legislation would need to be much more aggressive in reining in the growth of health care.

More likely the lobbying counterpart to the $1.4 million dollar a day ad campaign being waged by the health care insurers to make sure their record profits are preserved at the cost of all else.

Waxman did it to get his yes votes in the House. It's being done on both sides by lobbyists and our own representatives.

What is the Republican plan for health-care reform? Or is there one?

Health care is not being reformed. Insurance is being lowered via subsidies.
Big difference there buddy.

They don't have an official plan or bill but they have been submitting ideas to the Democrats.

What does the Republican Party want to do to lower health-care or health insurance costs, if anything?

Have you looked at the ideas? If so, can you critique each one as to why they would not work at lowering costs?

What ideas? This was the only line from that story that even approached an answer:

"The Senators said that above all else, Republicans want healthcare plans that average Americans can afford."

Great. Now, how?

Great. Now, how?
Several ways:
1. Allow insurance companies to sell in any state, this will increase competition and drive down costs to the consumer and should eliminate people being declined coverage or being dropped all of a sudden.
2. have insurance setup in a simple to understand set of choices so you control exactly what you pay for and what you want or don't want
3. Tax credit to help pay for insurance
4. Allow consumers to use HSA funds to pay for insurance premiums
